  • 'Now it's curtains for bacteria' says SMI

Following five years of research a huge hygiene breakthrough has been achieved by Seymour Manufacturing International (SMI).  Bio-Gard enriched with SteriTouch is a plastic strip curtain that kills 99.99% of illness causing pathogenic bacteria including MRSA, E-Coli and Salmonella. Significantly the curtain does not lose efficacy over time and the bacteria killing property is active throughout the matrix of the material. This means it works even if the curtain is cut or damaged.

Bio-Gard - Curtains for Bacteria

biogardStops & kills spreading germs

The best analogy of a doorway in a food or medical environment is an international airport or railway station where bacteria are transferred to practically any destination. They multiply at an alarming rate whilst distributing themselves over an extremely wide area causing sickness, pain and sometimes death.

A microscope will reveal the above statement to be more reality than fanciful. How do pandemics spread; what causes bouts of tummy trouble and the spread of diseases? In most cases it is contact with others or infected doorways which accelerate the spread.

  • Bio-Gard curtains enriched with SteriTouch will stop that spread as they kill germs
  • Bio-Gard kills and arrests 99.99% of illness causing pathogenic bacteria, mould and fungi
  • Bio-Gard has been independently tested to world standard JIS Z 2801:2000, ISO 2196:2007 and EU Directive 20002/72EC
  • The killing agent lasts the life of the curtains and is distributed through its matrix
  • Just some of the more notorious names on Bio-Gard death row are MRSA,E.Coli, Salmonella, Listeria, Legionnaires, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa
  • Bio-Gard curtains are tailor made to fit any size of doorway and are compatible with most other plastic strip curtain suspension systems
  • Bio-Gard is virtually fire resistant being classified as slow burning to self-extinguishing

Technical Aspects

There is no doubt that Bio-Gard enriched with SteriTouch is unique and a significant breakthrough in the war against illness-causing pathogens. SMI has always pursued a policy of presenting facts rather than sales rhetoric .

SMI refuses to make the statement that Bio-Gard will kill all germs until all germs have been tested to the highest current world standard JIS Z 2801:2000 draft ISO 22196:2007. There is however little doubt the results of bacteria or viruses yet to be tested will be identical. It should be noted that not all bacteria can be tested due to the lack of laboratories prepared to undertake the testing of certain types.

Surrounding conditions have a great effect upon germs. The tests used provide the best possible conditions for growth (hot humid conditions). Germs have life cycles that make them more vulnerable at certain times of their life. A virus will normally only live for hours but bacteria can live for weeks.
